Settled between mountains and hills, Mondovi’ is structured on more levels and is part of the seven sisters, the most important cities of the Cuneo’s county. Strategically positioned at few kilometres from the  sea cost of the “Riviera Ligure” and all the main urban centres of Piemonte, its an ideal stop for anyone who wish to visit the wine lands of “Langhe” (which recently became part of Unesco), and the mountains belonging to the chain of “Alpi Marittime”, the Alps which end up in the sea.

The Town is made of 23.000 people these days, and take his name from the mountain of “Vicoforte”:”Mont ed Vico”, where is main centre began.

Already known during his roman period, thanks to the archeological discoveries, Mondovi has been marked by the events: first known as bizantine outpost, than under the kingdom os Asti’s bishops, till becoming in the XVI century the most populated city of the Piemonte region.

After being conquered by the french, Mondovi’ had also played a key role in the “salt wars”. History left his own tracks with various monuments, artistic buildings and places of interests, like the medieval walls and towers, the ancient squares, the building facades, the cycles of frescos, and the architecture present with various churches disposed all over the territory

Today Mondovi is a council made for his people, with all the main services and very well connected with all the main North Italian directions

 

The “B&B del Borgo” is conveniently located within 800 meters from the historical centre of the town. Near the structure we found a Steak House, Bakery, Off Licence shops etc… At 500 meters there is the Town Hall, in the historical centre there is a pie tonal way with various shops, bars and restaurants. A cable car, connects the historical centre (Breo) with the top of the hill part of the Town (Piazza), from which the park of Belvedere and his medieval tower, is possible to enjoy a 360 degrease view on all the mountains arch and the Langhe hills.

In this top of the hill part of the town, is also possible to visit (beside the park of Belvedre and the above mentioned tower), the Cathedral, the Church of the Mission (Famous for its decoration made by Andrea Pozzo), the Synagogue, the Ceramic and the Print Museum. By the ancient Jesuits convents, its also possible to see the European biggest collection of sun dials.
